Microsoft Software

When you buy any Office 2007 suite, we recommend you install Office 2003 as a downgrade and then upgrade to Office 2007 when you are ready. You can only do that with Software Licensing. If you have never ordered Microsoft licenses before, you need to purchase at least five (5) licenses to start. After that, you can add licenses as you need them. License prices are given on a per-seat basis.

Our hardware bundles do not come with essential software. Why? Because it is more cost effective and much more manageable to use software licensing. Software licensing is cheaper, since you are only paying for a license and not the packaging. You get credit for already owning multiple licenses, rather than getting one-at-a-time pricing. You also get the ability to downgrade your license, which is especially important with Microsoft Office—you can buy Office 2007 now, install Office 2003, and upgrade whenever you want. Software that comes with your computer purchase (called OEM software) is not downgradeable. Also, OEM software is locked to the computer it was purchased with. If you lose or dispose of a computer, you cannot use its OEM license on another computer. And, with volume licensing you are much less likely to run into activation/serial number issues since you are licensed on a company-wide basis.
